What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is widely considered the elixir of youth. Thanks to its water-binding properties:
- moisturizes – Moisturizing the skin with hyaluronic acid,
- fills,
- restores volume to tissues and lifts them,
- prevents skin aging through hydration,
- stimulates fibroblasts to produce additional collagen.
First of all: Its greatest advantage is complete safety and practically no allergens.
Hyaluronic acid as a chemical substance is naturally found in our body. It is commonly found, among others, in our skin (it is a component of the intercellular matrix of the dermis) and synovial fluid and many other places throughout the body.
Initially, it was produced from rooster combs. As a result, the dynamic development of biotechnology allowed for an alternative method of producing this substance while maintaining the maximum level of safety and purity.
Hyaluronic acid belongs to the glycosaminoglycan group and has a molecular weight of 102 to 104 kDa.
Hyaluronic acid – action
Contrary to popular advertising by cosmetic companies – it is not absorbed through the skin.
However, it can be a great complement to daily skin care, inhibit TEWL, soften and protect the stratum corneum of the epidermis from external factors. However, it should be remembered that not all creams are good. The hyaluronic acid contained in them basically moisturizes the skin only superficially, and the truth is that after prolonged use it draws water from the skin to the outside!
The only effective form of injecting hyaluronic acid into the skin is its injection.
Younger patients regularly use needle mesotherapy treatments, which allow them to maintain a youthful appearance for a long time. What’s more, slightly older patients are delighted with the effects of wrinkle filling. In addition, mature patients often use volumetric treatments, which allow them to regain a youthful face oval.
Application
It was originally used in plastic surgery and reconstructive medicine for non-invasive reconstruction of tissues lost as a result of accidents and diseases. Currently, this trend has been transplanted to aesthetic medicine, and hyaluronic acid is used for:
- optical correction of the shape of the nose,
- enlarging and modeling the lips,
- changing the volume of the chin,
- filling sunken temples, cheeks,
- filling defects in the backs of the hands,
- correction of tear troughs,
- filling shallow, medium-deep and deep wrinkles,
- restoring the oval and proportions of the face,
- modeling the buttocks.
In our office, after conducting a thorough consultation and ruling out contraindications to the procedure, you can immediately perform hyaluronic acid injections in any technique, starting from traditional mesotherapy, through microneedle fractionation, injection under the wrinkles, application of hyaluronic threads, as well as using various techniques used in volumetry.
