Platelet-rich plasma

At the outset, it should be noted that needle mesotherapy using platelet-rich plasma is one of the most fashionable aesthetic medicine treatments. Recently, it has also been colloquially called the “vampire facelift”. This is due to the method of obtaining a cocktail consisting of collecting an appropriate amount of blood from the patient into sterile test tubes containing a special ingredient separating individual blood fractions, centrifuging it and intradermally administering it to the face, neck, décolleté, and even scalp, scars and stretch marks.

Although the blood collection itself may seem quite stressful for the patient, the number of supporters of this procedure is growing with each passing year.

The main advantages of using platelet-rich plasma in mesotherapy are:

  • naturalness – a cocktail is administered to the skin, which is well known to our body, which means that even allergy sufferers can take care of their youthful appearance,
  • effectiveness – blood plasma, and especially platelets, contain, among others, growth factors – chemicals necessary to stimulate the repair and regeneration processes of tissues after they have been damaged. This happens, for example, in the case of a cut. What is more, in aesthetic medicine, such regenerative abilities are used in anti-aging prophylaxis, scar and stretch mark reduction, for the treatment of difficult-to-heal wounds and fractures, and even in relieving the symptoms of androgenetic alopecia, post-chemotherapy baldness or alopecia areata,
  • amount of preparation – in the case of traditional needle mesotherapy using ready-made cocktails, during the procedure we have an appropriate amount of the preparation to use – about 3-5 ml.

Each additional ampoule, however, is an additional cost. In the case of platelet-rich plasma, the main preparation is our own blood, so during the procedure the doctor can administer the appropriate amount of the cocktail for our needs, without increasing the price of the procedure at the same time.

Contraindications to needle mesotherapy with platelet-rich plasma:

  • FIRST: pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • SECOND: age under 18,
  • tendency to develop keloid scars, difficulty healing wounds,
  • blood clotting disorders (e.g. haemophilia),
  • diabetes (unregulated),
  • viral diseases (especially active herpes),
  • bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections (e.g. demodex),
  • cancer during treatment,
  • some autoimmune diseases,
  • menstruation.

Platelet-rich plasma – Important

Due to the fact that platelet-rich plasma is obtained from the patient’s blood in our facility, before starting a series of treatments, we require basic blood tests to exclude contraindications to the procedure, as well as to safely perform the procedure:

Blood tests:

  • morphology,
  • Full coagulation
  • Fasting sugar,
  • Hbs + antibodies
  • HCV
  • HIV
  • ANA 1 and 2 test

Both treatments can be performed using the DERMAPEN device and the traditional needle method using a syringe.
