Upper eyelid blepharoplasty as the fastest method of modeling a drooping eyelid.

In cases of significant excess skin on the upper eyelids, unfortunately, a regular laser procedure using a fractionating tip is not enough and the correction must be performed using surgical techniques. In our clinic, we use a laser with a surgical tip for upper eyelid blepharoplasty.

At the patient’s request, we perform a laser lower eyelid lift using the ablation fractionation method. For our patients who have had upper eyelid blepharoplasty with us, we also offer a lower eyelid laser lift in one session at half the list price (performing 2 techniques with simultaneous healing with the upper eyelids – healing time approx. 1 week) and both eyelids at least six months after upper eyelid blepharoplasty to ultimately achieve the maximum good effect in the entire eye socket.

After the procedure of removing excess skin, wound preparation and partial residual coagulation of fragments of the orbicularis oculi muscle, the wound is sutured in the palpebral crease of the upper eyelid. Thanks to this technique, the scar is practically invisible. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with the use of adrenaline to minimize possible bruising.

Upper eyelid plastic surgery – necessary tests

Tests necessary to exclude contraindications to surgical procedures, e.g. eyelid plastic surgery, fat grafting

  • Blood tests: blood count, CRP,
  • INR
  • creatinine
  • general urine test,
  • ionogram
  • fasting sugar,
  • blood type
  • EKG with a description (in patients over 40 years of age) with a clear description and a note that the doctor “sees no contraindications to upper eyelid plastic surgery under local anesthesia using adrenaline

How does it work?

Upper eyelid plastic surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of excess skin, fat tissue and muscle from the upper eyelids. This procedure can be performed to improve the appearance of the eyes, increase their openness and reduce the signs of aging.

Upper eyelid plastic surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia. The procedure takes about an hour. The surgeon performs incision in the natural crease of the eyelid, removes excess skin and fat tissue, and then stitches the wound.

After upper eyelid blepharoplasty, the patient may feel discomfort and swelling. The eyelids may also be slightly blue. These symptoms usually disappear within a few days.

Effects

The effects of upper eyelid blepharoplasty are immediate and last for many years. This procedure can improve the appearance of the eyes, giving them shine and a youthful appearance.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is often performed to improve the appearance of eyes that are:

  • puffy
  • sunken
  • with fat hernias
  • with excess skin

We can also perform this procedure to improve vision if swollen eyelids impede vision.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a safe procedure, but like any surgical procedure, it is associated with certain risks. Potential complications of upper blepharoplasty include:

  • infection
  • bleeding
  • scarring
  • eyelid asymmetry

Most complications of upper blepharoplasty are mild and resolve within a few weeks.
