Cellulite
Orange peel – or cellulite – is the result of a disorder of the lymphatic system in the thighs, and can also be caused by hormonal disorders in the female body. Depending on its intensity, there are 4 degrees of cellulite changes.
Patients who want to improve the appearance of their legs are most often recommended:
- increased physical activity with appropriately selected exercises,
- eating healthy meals, avoiding fast food,
- using regular lymphatic drainage (e.g. BOA pressotherapy, RDT anti-cellulite massage),
- needle mesotherapy with special cocktails containing, among others, artichoke extracts, algae, silica, caffeine and taurine, horse chestnut extract, hyaluronidase,
- in very advanced conditions laser lipolysis.
Cellulite – Causes
Cellulite is a disorder of the subcutaneous tissue, which is characterized by the occurrence of unevenness and depressions of the skin. It is most commonly found on the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen, but can also appear on other areas of the body. Cellulite can be caused by a number of factors, including:
- genetics
- being overweight or obese
- hormonal changes, such as pregnancy or menopause
- lack of exercise
- poor diet
Treatments
There are a number of treatments that can help reduce cellulite. Some of the most popular treatments include:
- Mesotherapy is a treatment that involves injecting special preparations under the skin. These preparations may contain nutrients that help improve the appearance of the skin, as well as ingredients that help remove fat tissue.
- Endermologie is a treatment that uses the mechanical action of a head to stimulate subcutaneous tissue. Endermologie helps improve blood and lymph circulation, as well as reduce the amount of fat tissue.
- Shockwave is a treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to break down fat cells. Shockwaves also help stimulate collagen production, which can improve skin firmness.
- Carboxytherapy is a procedure that involves injecting carbon dioxide gas under the skin. Carbon dioxide helps improve blood and lymph circulation, as well as stimulate collagen production.
- Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of fat tissue using a cannula. Liposuction is an effective way to remove cellulite, but it is also the most expensive and invasive procedure on this list.
Choosing the right procedure depends on many factors, including the type of cellulite, its severity, and your budget. It is recommended to consult a doctor or cosmetologist before choosing a procedure.
